cmu spring carnival booth. utilizing architecture, art, and construction skills to celebrate a carnegie mellon tradition

carnegie mellon university | 2016-2017

award winning design. each year as part of carnegie mellon university tradition, a series of carnival booths are created and built by various organizations. the design/prefabrication stage is 6 months and leads up to a 1 week construction phase. these booths are multi-storied 18'x18' structures and can be multiple stories. they must be entirely constructed by hand and comply to code and regulations, as people would be walking through them. for cmu's 2017 carnival, my organization had 90's Cartoons as a theme. my position was construction chair and my responsibilities included designing and creating a drawing set of construction documents, leading a team of over 70 individuals in constructing this design manually, and assembling the two-story structure before the grand opening for carnival. i also helped with the interior design, which included wall designs, crafts, decorations, sounds, and lighting.

the final structure was painted and decorated with hand made crafts and props.
