infra_studio. designing an engaging av transitsystem for a future city

carnegie mellon school of architecture | Fall 2017

This semester-long project pushed us to understand current infrastructures, the relationships between humans and their environments, and futuristic city planning. I approached this project on a very micro scale by questioning how I could change the interface of people's everyday lives. I began by studying facets of modern societies and current strategies to engage the community. I organized these components along two axes according to their physical scales and their necessity within a given community. I would then use this information to help develop a design for a future society.

I saw this as an opportunity to utilize AV systems as a method to bring a grander sense of a cohesive community and to encourage the usage of communal transit. To do this, there would need to be ease of access, lots of resources, and attractive spaces that would give people desire to utilize. Purposely kept rather conceptual to continue the tone for futuristic thinking, I developed 3 different infrastructural elements: a station, a bridge, and a park.
